... on the return of the weblog (chopped up JPEGs/free strips)

After some thought and consideration, I thought closing the weblog for good may not be such a good idea -- perhaps the best thing to do is monitor what I say a little more and not allow comments. It seems that allowing some people to make anonymous comments allows them to be the true assholes they wouldn't have the guts to be in real life.

Because the newsbox on the Sexy Losers site is too small, I need a bigger place. I briefly considered the bottom of the page, but, that's a little too much like some comics I read. I never believed that the author's ranting belonged on the same page as his work, although I did allow myself a little of that conceit when my hotmail account was broken into. I thought I had something to say to everyone who read the comic, and how the comic they are reading is like me painting a big red target on myself.

I have been getting a lot of repetitive E-mail recently, so I thought I'd make note of it here.

... on the comic being broken into several JPEGs

I have gotten a handful of complaints about this, like people think it's their God-given right to save my work on their hard drives. I usually reply with "it sucks to be you" etc. The bottom line is that this method has saved me quite a bit of bandwidth this month, though the number of visits have stayed the same. This is a good thing for my host. Given the choice between people being able to save copies of my work and bandwidth, guess which wins.

Also, it has helped against DailyStrips. When I put up the first piece of protection (simply to get people's attention, nothing more) I got a few E-mails saying "Nyah nyah, I beat your 'protection'" which I expected. When I broke up the strip, these same guys were oddly silent. And that wasn't even the whole nine yards as far as the planned protection I had in mind. I was secretly hoping that they would crack that, so I could add another layer to it. But damn...

SO yes, I'm aware that it's a bit of an inconvenience, but it would be more of an inconvenience if my server were to go down because of bandwidth theft.

... on doing free strips for other people/sites

I don't. I feel if I have time to draw a strip, then I owe it to the people who read SL to draw a strip for them. Please don't ask. I had one girl ask me to draw a free strip for her so that she could give it to her ex-boyfriend thousands of miles away in another continent. Seriously. Not that I feel that I'm too good or too popular to do free work, it's just that free time is always limited, and the SL comic is the priority. I feel that if I have enough time in a week to do two SL strips, then I should DO two SL strips. I owe it to the readers.

Although there is no room for comments, there is always E-mailing me.
